Restoring Your Status After Your Study Permit Has Expired
If you lose your temporary resident status, you may apply for restoring your status within 90 days of losing it. You should seek legal advice from a qualified lawyer regarding your situation.
After you apply to restore your student status, you may stay in Canada until a decision is made on your application. However, you are not allowed to study until your student status has been restored.
Your application to restore your status may or may not be accepted. There is no guarantee on the success of your application, because it will depend on your particular circumstances.
An officer at Citizenship and Immigration Canada will evaluate your application for restoration and will take into account all the circumstances involved including the reason why you have fallen out of status and your reasons for needing to continue studying in Canada.
You will be required to pay a separate fee for restoring your status and for a new study permit.
If you would like more information on studying in Canada and for post-graduate opportunities in Canada or if you would like to set up a meeting with Mr. Champoux, CALL 604-687-3848 or e-mail rachampoux@racl.ca.
