Applying for Permanent Residence After Studying or Working in Canada
Permanent Residence (Options for Students)
Immigration options are available if you have completed your studies in Canada or have worked in Canada for at least one year.
The greatest opportunity comes from ensuring you can acquire a post-graduate work permit and then working for at least one year in a skilled occupation.
This will potentially create options for you to apply for Permanent Residence through several different programs.
For example, you may apply for permanent residence via the Canadian Experience Class which allows foreign students or workers who have educational or work experience in Canada to apply to become a permanent resident.
To qualify, you must have graduated from a Canadian educational institution and have worked in Canada for at least one year in an eligible occupation.
You may also qualify if you have worked in Canada for two years with a temporary work permit in an eligible occupation.

Other immigration options may also become available to you as a result of having studied in Canada including the Federal Skilled Worker program and the Provincial Nominee Program.
